Alright folks, it's time for another music review here on Hanging On Sunset, and today we're diving into some French shoegaze/dreampop goodness with Pam Risourié. Now, what's really cool about this band is that one of their guitar players, Lucas Ramos, is actually an old college buddy of mine, so I had to check them out when I heard about their latest single, "High On a Wire".
This track is a dreamy, introspective piece that features layers of lush guitars and ethereal vocals. It's the perfect example of Pam Risourié's signature sound, and it's sure to draw in fans of Slowdive, Cocteau Twins, Ulrika Spacek, Beach House, Sonic Youth, and Jesus & Mary Chain. This band knows how to create an immersive soundscape that will take you on a journey. Bonus point to the band for their captivating vocals, which are often a missing ingredient in the shoegaze/dreampop genre.
But it's not just the single that's worth your attention. The band just released a live session that they recorded in the middle of Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage in France, and it's a sonic trip. They took their amps and drum kit out into nature and spread their soundscape for all to hear. It's a refreshing take on the typical music video and really showcases their ability to create immersive soundscapes.
Pam Risourié has already made a name for themselves in the indie rock scene in France with three EPs under their belt. But their upcoming album "Days of Distortion", due out on March 17th, is set to take things to a whole new level. Recorded by the Normandy-based band You Said Strange, who are known for their own brand of psychedelic rock, this collaboration promises something truly special. And to top it off, the album was mastered by Simon Scott, the drummer of Slowdive. That's some serious musicianship at work, my friends.
